Notice of Public Hearing

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held by the Council of the City of Parksville on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 6:00 pm in the Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue East, Parksville, BC to consider public representations on the following bylaw:

“ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT AMENDMENT BYLAW, 2023, NO. 2000.145” proposes to amend “City of Parksville Zoning and Development Bylaw, 1994, No. 2000”.

In general terms, the purpose of the proposed text amendment is to facilitate a licenced mental health and/or addictions treatment facility on the subject property at 188 McCarter Street, legally described as Lot A, District Lot 13, Nanoose District, Plan VIP55108 [PID: 017-937-353]. The subject property is shown shaded on the map below:

INSPECTION OF PROPOSED BYLAW AND RELATED MATERIALS

A copy of the proposed bylaw and documents are available for viewing from Tuesday, October 17, 2023, to and including Wednesday, November 22, 2023, on the City’s website using the following link: https://parksville.civicweb.net/filepro/documents/63378/

Copies of the documents may be viewed in person at the planning department or requested by email at planning@parksville.ca

CONDUCT OF HEARING

At the Hearing, the public will be allowed to make representations to City Council respecting matters contained in the proposed bylaw and all persons who believe their interest in property is affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard or to present written submissions respecting matters contained in the bylaw.

Any person wishing to provide written comment to Council regarding the proposed bylaw should submit it to the attention of Mayor and Council, care of the City Administration department:

Written comment must be received prior to the termination of the hearing to be considered by Council. To afford Council an opportunity to review all submissions, individuals are encouraged to submit correspondence prior to 4:00 pm on the day of the hearing.

All written correspondence received forms part of the public record and may be available for public inspection in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
