The inaugural Route 19A Music Festival starts Aug. 30.

The inaugural Route 19A Music Festival, a road trip for audiophiles, will take place between Aug. 30 and Sept. 7.

Utilizing local halls in Parksville and Qualicum Beach, the festival will offer an eclectic variety of events all the way from young fledgling artists on the first step of the performance ladder to award-winning veterans who have reached international status, according to a news release.

The program encompasses a total of seven events — four in Qualicum Beach on the weekend of Aug. 30, and three in Parksville on the weekend of Sept. 6.

"We are especially pleased that the majority of the performers are local to Vancouver Island," the release said. "And that one of the events is designed around the talents of some of the Island’s youngest performers."

The lineup features a Juno Award winning roots act, a preteen disc jockey, an Irish folk rock band, a Blues/Cajun dance, Indigenous artists, an all-star Paul Simon Tribute, a Gypsy Jazz Band and Storytelling with musical accompaniment, along with other inspiring performances.

"With this invitation, we welcome residents and visitors alike to the community of Oceanside to share in a unique creative opportunity," the release said.
