The Regional District of Nanaimo’s Performance Recognition Program is back.

After being put on hold since 2020, the RDN, through the Oceanside Services Committee, is pleased to resume the program that recognizes individuals, members of teams and organizations who have achieved a gold medal or first-place standing at a provincial, national or international sport, culture or artistic event.

Nominations for residents who live in the Oceanside area and meet the recognition criteria are now being accepted until Friday, Oct. 20.

Nominees must be residents of the City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach or Electoral Areas E, F, G, or H and have achieved their gold medal or first-place standing between 2020 and the nomination deadline.

Past nominees have been recognized for their achievements in swimming, lawn bowling, volleyball, lacrosse, weightlifting, cycling, poetry and many other provincial and national sports and cultural competitions.

The ceremonies will again be held twice annually in the spring and fall. Nominations received by the Oct. 20 deadline will be considered for the November ceremony. Nominations submitted after this date will be considered for future ceremonies.

For more information and the nomination form, visit rdn.bc.ca/performance-recognition-program.

Completed recognition forms should be dropped off at Oceanside Place, can be mailed or emailed to: RDN Recreation and Parks, Oceanside Place, 830 W. Island Highway, Parksville, BC V9P 2X4, or email them at recparks@rdn.bc.ca
