The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) has the green light to undertake a boundary study for Electoral Area F that encompasses Coombs, Hilliers, Errington, Whiskey Creek and Meadowood.

The provincial government's Ministry of Municipal Affairs granted the RDN permission to proceed with the study that included a $45,000 grant. This builds on the momentum and support of the governance and services study that was completed in May 2023.

The boundary study will determine possible boundary scenarios within Area F and identify some of the implications of the proposed boundaries on any future incorporation. The public will have opportunities to provide input on the potential options to decide whether there is a desire to go ahead with a more in-depth incorporation study.

In 2022, the ministry contributed funds for the governance and services study in Area F to document service delivery and governance arrangements, engage with local community members to understand their concerns and interests, and identify potential future governance and service delivery options for the area.
